Our nursery stands as the cornerstone of our tree-planting endeavors. Focused on the cultivation of Clanwilliam cedar saplings, it ensures a steady and healthy supply of young trees primed for planting. The focus will also be on working with private landowners and local communities to identify the most strategically placed locations to establish satellite nurseries throughout the Cederberg region.
Adhering rigorously to sustainable and organic practices, our nursery exemplifies environmental stewardship. Collaborating with CapeNature, we undertake crucial seed collection and meticulous seed processing, separating ripe seeds from empty shells. We employ local soils with similar microbial compositions and textures to minimize transplant shock, ensuring successful acclimitisation.
Saplings aged approximately 6 to 8 months are prepared for planting between May and August. With your invaluable support, we can restore the lush splendor of the Clanwilliam cedar, one tree at a time. Join us in this noble pursuit, and together our efforts will leave a lasting impact.
